Der hier dargestellte dreidimensionale euklidische Raum gehört nach Kant zu den Anschauungsformen apriori. Er muss als Anschauungsform da sein, bevor ein Gegenstand (Stuhl) überhaupt erfahrbar ist. Inwieweit lässt sich diese Auffassung in Hinblick auf die Existenz nichteuklidischer Räume und des Raum-Zeit Kontinuums der Relativitätstheorie aufrechterhalten?

„The a priori conditions of a possible experience in general are at the same time conditions of the possibility of objects of experience“ is one of the key quotations from Kant’s main work ‘Critique of Pure Reason’. The three dimensional Euclidean space shown here is of the kind Kant termed an a priori form of perception. As a form of perception, it must first be there before any kind of experience of objects (in this case a chair) can be gained. How far can this view be maintained in the light of the existence of non-Euclidean space and the space-time continuum of the Theory of Relativity?
