Von dem antiken griechischen Denker Pythagoras stammt die Vorstellung, dass die Welt mit Hilfe der Zahlen vom Chaos zum Kosmos geordneten werden kann. Die umgebende Mittelmeerlandschaft deutet auf die Wiege der europäischen Wissenschaften hin. Die Tische sind in den pythagoräischen Zahlen 6, 8, 10 gekachelt. Die Farben der Tische deuten auf die Wurzeln der Mathematik hin (sandfarben – Arabien, Schachbrettstruktur- Indien ).

The antique Greek philosopher Pythagoras believed that the world could be transformed with the help of numbers from chaos to ordered cosmos. The Mediterranean surrounding reminds of the origins of European science. The tables display the Pythagorean numbers 6, 8 and 10. The colours of the tables refer to the roots of mathematics in Arabia (sand shaded colours) and in India (chess board).
